Hot, unpredictable and cutting edge are just a few of the words used to best describe this bona-fide superstar. Keenan Price, artistically known as “KB”, is destined for greatness and his unrelenting passion for music will pave the path. “Life is a series of phases”, says Keenan, “you’ve got to believe in your dreams and live them without any regrets”.
Born in Washington, DC, Keenan began his singing career at the tender age of 4 as a member of his church choir. This is where he was given his now famous moniker- “KB” (Kwyer Boy). Working from his choir experience, he further honed his musical skills by emulating his idols- James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Sam Cooke, Prince, and the incomparable Michael Jackson…just to name a few. By the time he was in junior high school, Keenan was developing harmonies, constructing melodies, and producing music tracks for him and friends.
Continuing on his quest for music perfection, Keenan took several dance classes and performed in many talent showcases. In 2002, he became a member of a Washington DC quartet called “295” where he shared duties as one of the lead singers along with Capitol Recording artist J-Holiday. Keenan left 295 in January 2004. He dove back into the music scene making a name for himself while performing at several talent showcases, local music festivals, and open-mic talent sessions where in May of 2004, he met a budding local music artist George McIvor. They became good friends, and formed the five-man band called “Dae’One”.
With the help of their manager- Carlin N’watts of 118 Management/November Entertainment Group, Keenan and his fellow band members created a serious buzz in the streets of Washington, DC, the city of New York, and in London, UK while promoting their self-titled debut album- “Dae’1”. Despite the gaining momentum, something was missing and Keenan left the band in January 2005. “I felt constricted and tied down and was not able to express myself musically,” Keenan says of his decision. After a 6-month period of soul searching, Keenan moved into the next phase of his career…a solo ambition.
Throughout his extensive career, this singer, songwriter and producer has polished his music and broad entertainment skills in touring with and performing as a background singer for R&B superstar Ginuwine. He also performed with R&B singing sensation Mya. Additionally Keenan has had the pleasure of opening up for R&B super-group Boyz II Men at the US Air Arena in Largo, Maryland, and International Boy-group B2K at the Anaheim Stadium in Anaheim, California. One of Keenan’s most crowning achievements was having the opportunity to lend his writing skills to Ginuwine by writing 3 songs on the singer’s current album “Back II Basics” released under Sony Records in November 2005.
Keenan reunited with his former manger- Carlin N’watts, and signed a management deal with 118 Management in August 2005. Since then, he has been hard at work at Cue Studios, in Virginia, 2 Ton Sound, in New York, and the legendary Hit Factory in Miami- creating music masterpieces that will no doubt send him straight to the top of the charts. Keenan has also been involved in the production and arrangement of several songs and compositions for his management colleague EMI recording artist- Rumi.
This multi-talented star also writes and produces as well as plays the piano and acoustic guitar. With his smash hits “That Girl”, “Breathe” and his soul defying hit “Need u in my life” from his upcoming debut album, there is no denying him of his place in music history as one of the world’s greatest entertainers.
